TSA Applications

A step-by-step guide to completing your TSA Application

Non-US Citizens are required to have TSA approval before any training begins.

If you are a non-US Citizen, you are required by law to have prior authorization from the Transportation Security Administration before any flight training can begin.

Non-US Citizens are more than welcome to book a discovery flight before deciding to start training.

On this page, we will go over the documents needed and the steps to help you complete your TSA application.

Five-year Determination of Eligibility

If TSA issues you a Determination of Eligibility, you may train as much and often as you want for the duration of the Determination, usually five years, as long as you are still eligible.

Gather Your Documents

  • Identification

Current, valid, Government-issued identification documents (typically passport and visa)

  • Email Address

A valid personal email address (required). TSA will send your user login ID, password, and other communications to this address.

Register as a candidate, and create a user ID. Be sure that your name listed in your application matches your name on your identification documents EXACTLY. Any discrepancies will delay the application process.

Once all items are completed, TSA performs a security threat assessment to determine whether the candidate poses a threat to aviation or national security.

Check your email. Once a training event request has been submitted through the FTSP online portal and payment has been received, TSA sends the candidate an email with instructions on how to complete the request process. Each step must be completed before a candidate can advance to the next step.

Please notify your flight instructor that you have completed the necessary steps and are awaiting TSA approval. Text: (661) 509 - 1629 or Email: terrence@robbinsflight.com
